DAY 02: San Francisco | Monterey And Carmel Tour

Proceed for the relaxing day trip from San Francisco. You'll get the opportunity to come up close to what has to be one of the most beautiful coastlines in the world.

The Tour

Our route will take you south on Highway No 1 through the beach town of Santa Cruz and features one spectacular view after another. Following a morning of winding down the coast, we'll stop at Monterey, setting of John Steinbeck's famous novel Cannery Row. Here if you wish you will have time to visit Monterey Bay Aquarium. More than 250,000 creatures fill over 200 spectacular galleries and exhibits, including a walk-through aviary, a three storey kelp forest, penguins, and a million-gallon Outer Bay display. There will also be plenty of time for some lunch and shopping in this picturesque coastal settlement.

After a drive along the 17 Mile Drive with its gorgeous seascapes and chances to spot wildlife, passing Pebble Beach golf course, the Lone Pine, and some of the best coastal panoramas in the world, we will stop in the gallery/restaurant district of Carmel-by-the-Sea and give you enough photo opportunities along the way.

Then leaving the natural world behind we’ll head for the future as our tour leads us through Silicon Valley, the high-tech capital of the world, before we return back to San Francisco.

This full day tour takes around 11 hours and includes hotel pick up (from 09:00 onwards) and drop off from Central San Francisco and Fisherman's Wharf, all transfers as well as the services of a knowledgeable driver-guide.

Making your way across the Central Valley — one of the largest agricultural regions in the United States — you'll have a 10-minute stop at a street-side fruit stand for a chance to purchase some fresh local nuts or fruit, and an option to pick up picnic supplies for lunch. Continue through the cattle and horse ranch lands of the Sierra Nevada foothills and Gold Country — the heartland of the California Gold Rush of 1849.

After a 4-hour drive, you'll arrive at Yosemite National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site famous for its spectacular granite cliffs, waterfalls, massive sequoia trees and biological diversity. Start your visit with a 1.5-hour driving tour through the park’s main attraction, Yosemite Valley, a glacial valley full of amazing rock formations and waterfalls. As you're in a small group, you’ll enjoy multiple photo stops for that perfect iconic picture!

You will have three hours to explore Yosemite Valley at your leisure. Rent a bike and pick a trailhead for an epic cycle around the valley, or embark on foot on one of the many hiking loops. For less active folks, check out the visitor’s center, the Ansel Adams Gallery and the Ahwahnee Hotel for unique insights in the park’s history, legacy and beauty.

Re-group in the late afternoon for the journey back to San Francisco, stopping for a short break en route. Approaching the city in the evening, capture a stunning downtown skyline view from the Bay Bridge before arriving back at your hotel.

DAY 04: San Francisco | Las Vegas (by flight)
